About the Bobcat (Lynx rufus)
Bobcats are typically found throughout the US, southern Canada and Mexico, since they thrive in a variety of habitats from dry deserts to cool wooded swamps. Along with the diverse habitat comes a diverse diet. The bobcat is carnivorous and will hunt anything from a mouse, squirrel or rabbit to a mammal it’s own size. Speaking of size, the bobcat is generally smaller than most other wild cats, weighing in at around 20-30 pounds, with a thick grey or brown coat. The name ‘bobcat’ derives from their short, bobbed tail.
