About the ‘Hybrid’ Sheep (Ovis Hybrid)
Mouflon (or Corsican) is often the catchall name for hybrid sheep, which are typically a cross between a common sheep (Ovis aries) and any of the following (reported, but not confirmed): Bighorn sheep, Dahl sheep, Argali Sheep, European Mouflons, etc. This wide variety of hybrids and subsequent crossing has led to many ‘named’ types of sheep, such as the “Texas Dall,” “Black Hawaiian,” “Barbados,” and so forth. Beautiful Colors and exotic horn sizes/shapes are the results of many crosses, which creates a wide variety of appearances within this class of sheep.
