TERMS & CONDITIONS

Clear terms.
Confident collecting.

The details of ordering, delivery, returns and responsible ownership.

Policy edition: September 29, 2026 · THE TAXIDERMY STORE, INC.

The store and these terms

These terms govern purchases and related services offered by THE TAXIDERMY STORE, INC. through thetaxidermystore.org. Our address is 471 Lorry St, Amherst, WI 54406. For orders, contact [email protected]; for other enquiries, contact [email protected].

The product description, any specifically agreed written quote and the policies linked here form part of the information for your purchase. Read them before ordering. Mandatory consumer rights remain in place even where these terms address the same subject.

Products, photographs and grades

Review the specimen number, actual product photographs, materials, dimensions, grade and condition disclosures. Natural specimens can show individual marks, asymmetry or variation; reproductions and decorative objects are identified in their listings. Ask for clarification when a description or measurement is unclear.

Grades are the store’s in-house assessment, explained in our grading system. A badge does not replace the condition description, constitute an independent appraisal, or certify lawful ownership or sale. A product PDF records the listing at the time it is prepared; it is not a permit, authenticity certificate or stock reservation.

Editorial artwork and films illustrate the brand. The showroom panorama is a historical view. Neither represents a promise that every depicted specimen is currently for sale.

Orders, availability and quotes

Use accurate billing, delivery and contact information and have authority to use the payment method. You must be legally capable of entering into the purchase. Adding an item to the bag or sending a quote request does not reserve it. We confirm the accepted order and any special arrangements directly.

Available catalog pieces may be viewed in our Wisconsin store by confirmed appointment. Availability can change through store and online sales. We will not substitute another specimen or charge a corrected price without your agreement. If we cannot fulfill an order and no agreed alternative is accepted, we cancel the unfulfilled purchase and refund the corresponding payment.

A quote request lets us answer questions or propose terms. A quote applies only to its stated items, options, quantities, destination and validity period, if one is supplied. Acknowledging the request is not acceptance of an order or appointment.

Prices and payment

Listed prices are in US dollars unless stated otherwise. Review the item, option, quantity, any approved discount and applicable tax before payment. Shipping is free for accepted supported delivery arrangements. No restocking fee or deduction of original free outbound shipping is imposed on an eligible refund under our 14-day guarantee.

Credit-card orders are placed awaiting payment. Our sales team confirms applicable sales tax and your final total, then emails a secure credit card payment link. Submitting checkout does not collect payment. Bank wire payment may be arranged directly for approved orders. The actual payment choices and any agreed payment timetable are confirmed for the order. An agreed customer or trade price must be reflected in the accepted order or quote. A pricing error does not authorize us to collect an unapproved additional amount.

Do not disclose account passwords, card numbers or bank credentials in a quote form or ordinary email. If wire details change, verify them through a trusted store contact before transferring money.

Shipping deadlines and delays

The delivery method shown for each item is Standard shipping, Freight delivery or Method to be confirmed. That classification informs the packing and fulfillment plan; it does not guarantee a particular carrier or delivery date. We confirm freight access and any special service before dispatch. Free shipping does not include an unagreed promise of installation or inside placement.

For covered orders, 16 CFR Part 435 requires a reasonable basis for the promised shipment time, or generally 30 days when no time is stated. If we cannot ship within the applicable period, we provide the required notice and the choice to consent to delay or cancel for a prompt refund. A legal refund due for unshipped goods is not made conditional on the ordinary return process.

Wisconsin’s prepaid mail-order protections, Wis. Stat. § 100.174, can also apply to orders placed without face-to-face contact. We honor applicable shipment, delay and refund requirements; a general reference to processing time does not waive them.

Packing, insurance and delivery issues

We package pieces according to their protection needs and insure outbound shipments against damage or theft in transit. Please keep packaging and report damage or non-delivery promptly so we can investigate and coordinate a remedy. Do not discard damaged materials or begin a repair before discussing the situation with us.

We do not use a carrier claim as an automatic reason to deny a remedy owed to you. Any request for photographs or carrier notes supports the investigation; it does not remove rights that applicable law protects. See Shipping & delivery for practical preparation and reporting guidance.

The 14-day guarantee

Contact us within 14 calendar days of delivery to request a refund or exchange. For a refund return, the buyer pays return shipping and we refund the full item purchase price, with applicable refundable tax. We issue the refund within 7 calendar days after receiving the returned item; bank or card posting time may be additional.

For an arranged exchange, the full original item purchase price is credited toward the replacement, and we pay return shipping, packing and insurance. Contact us before shipping or incurring those costs so we can arrange them. Any price difference is agreed, with a refund when the replacement costs less. Replacement shipping is free to supported destinations.

Return the item with its included components and documentation, preserving its received condition. Tell us about damage or alterations so we can address the situation fairly. Defects, misdescription and other rights under applicable law are not automatically limited to a change-of-mind guarantee. The full process is in Returns & exchanges.

Wildlife law and destination eligibility

Availability on a website does not establish permission to buy, possess, sell, transport, import or export every wildlife specimen in every location. Eligibility depends on species, materials, origin, acquisition history, documents and destination. A reproduction must be assessed by its actual materials; a species name or vintage label alone does not establish an exemption.

The Lacey Act, 16 U.S.C. § 3372, addresses commerce involving unlawfully obtained wildlife. Its federal-law provision refers to wildlife:

“taken, possessed, transported, or sold in violation of any law, treaty, or regulation of the United States”

Additional provisions address state, tribal and foreign-law violations in their respective circumstances. A sale agreement cannot cure unlawful sourcing or transport.

Other potentially applicable protections include the Endangered Species Act, 16 U.S.C. §§ 1531–1544; the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and related regulations; the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act; and the Marine Mammal Protection Act. These laws differ and may restrict possession or trade in protected animals, parts or products.

A taxidermy permit is not general permission to sell protected migratory birds. U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service taxidermy guidance distinguishes restricted wild-taken birds from specifically authorized, properly documented captive-reared waterfowl. Species-specific exceptions must be established rather than assumed.

Wisconsin DNR guidance under Chapter 29, including rules concerning sale and lawful possession, also applies where relevant. Other states may impose additional restrictions. For international movement, CITES, wildlife import/export rules and destination-country requirements can require documentation or prevent a shipment.

We may request relevant documentation, decline an ineligible transaction, or pause fulfillment while a specific question is resolved. We do not ask a customer to misdescribe a specimen or use an inaccurate customs declaration. Both the store and the buyer retain their own legal responsibilities. Contact us before proposing an international shipment or forwarding a regulated piece to another jurisdiction.

Appointments and store collection

Pickup and store visits are strictly by confirmed appointment only. A submitted request is not a confirmed appointment. Wait for confirmation before traveling, and discuss vehicle space, packing and loading needs beforehand. The store address is 471 Lorry St, Amherst, WI 54406.

Accounts, privacy and communication

Keep account details current and your password private. My Account provides available order history and address/account settings. A changed saved address does not automatically change an existing order; contact us immediately about that order.

Our Privacy & security notice explains information use, necessary service providers, cookies, the optional Google tour and privacy requests. We do not sell personal information. An order or enquiry does not by itself authorize unrelated promotional marketing.

Use of content and documents

The store’s branding, photographs, written material and grade artwork are protected as applicable. Customers may view and retain product sheets for personal purchase evaluation and their transaction records. Do not alter a grade, specimen identity, price or condition disclosure and present the changed document as issued by the store.

The faint logo pattern identifies the document’s source. It does not prevent copying, establish legal authenticity, or replace the current product listing. Editorial media must not be reused as if it depicts a specific item for sale.

Questions, disputes and legal rights

Contact [email protected] with the order number and the resolution you seek so we can try to address a concern promptly. Keep your order record, correspondence and relevant photographs. You retain the ability to contact a consumer agency or pursue remedies available under applicable law.

Wisconsin law and applicable federal law govern to the extent permitted, while mandatory protections that apply in your jurisdiction remain unaffected. These terms do not impose arbitration, waive statutory remedies, exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or limit rights through an undisclosed policy.

If a provision cannot lawfully be enforced, it applies only to the extent permitted and the remaining provisions continue where lawful. Material changes are identified by a new policy edition; we do not retroactively reduce the agreed terms of an existing order without a lawful basis and any required agreement.
